Weather we admit it or not Facebook is the principal digital public square of today. And while many young's might prefer Snapchat or Instagram, Mark Zuck & Co's social network is still an extremely integral virtual venue and will continue to be for some time.

1. See something interesting in your News Feed but don't have time to look at it now? why not save and view later.

 

Your bookmarked links, videos, photos, places, and more are accessible from the "Saved" page on your Facebook profile. The page is included under the "More" tab in the Facebook mobile app.

Just head on over to facebook.com/notes, where you'll find notes from people you follow. If you want to add your own, just click the "+ Write a Note" link in the top-right corner. Spill your thoughts using the easy post editor, add a cover image if you want, and share just like you would a regular Facebook post. If you can't finish your note in one sitting, save it and publish later.

7. Turn off auto-playing videos in your News Feed.

Do you want your videos to stop playing automatically in your news feed, then turn it off.

Under the "More" tab in the Facebook mobile app, select "Videos and Photos." You can choose to auto-play videos over cellular and Wi-Fi connections, just Wi-Fi, or never.

8. Know the distinction between a "friend" and a "follower" on Facebook.

There are two ways you can connect with someone on Facebook: by becoming friends with them and by following them.

Being friends means that you and the other person have approved the connection and likely know each other, while following an account means that the person hasn't added you back as a friend.
When someone follows you, they'll only see posts you share publicly. You can turn off the ability for people to follow your account at any time from the "Followers" section of your account settings.

9. See what your profile looks like to the public and individual friends.

This is handy for seeing what on your profile is visible to others, including individual friends you may have hidden certain information from in the past.

When you're logged into Facebook on the desktop website, go to your profile, click the ellipsis and then "View as..."

10.Hide your list of friends from everyone but you.

If for some reason you don't want people seeing who you're friends with, you can hide the list entirely.

From your friends list on the desktop, click the "Manage" pen icon on the right and then "Edit Privacy." Then you can change who can see your friends list, the people you follow, and your followers.

Go to Facebook's deletion page. In a web 
browser,  by typing it into the address bar and pressing ENTER

• If you are not automatically logged in, enter the email address or phone number and password for your account, then click LOGIN. It's a blue button in the middle of the page.

STEP 2 

Click DELETE MY ACCOUNT.  It's below the warning message in the middle of the page. Clicking it invokes a pop-up window.



STEP 3

Enter your password again. You'll do so in the "Password" field at the top of the window.



STEP 4

Type in the captcha code. This code is the jumble of letters and numbers in the middle of the window; you'll type your answer into the field below the code.

• If you can't read the code, you can click either the Try another text or the an audio captcha link below the code to generate a new one.

STEP 5

CLICK OK This will submit your code. If it's correct, another pop-up window will appear.

• If you incorrectly entered your password or captcha code, you'll be asked to try again

STEP 6

Click OK. to delete your account. It's at the bottom of the pop-up window. Total account deletion can take up to 14 days, but your account will be gone from Facebook after that time frame.

Are you interested in finding an inspiration for your brand, why not look to your own likes? It’s actually possible to see the 500 posts you’ve most recently liked on the platform. This can be a useful exercise to see what captures your attention.

How to do it:

1. Go to your profile
2. Tap the gear icon on iOS or the three dots on Android to go to Options
3. Tap Posts You’ve Liked

Note: This feature is only available on mobile if you’re working in-app. If you’d like to see an updated list of your recently liked posts on desktop, add Instagram to your Hootsuite dashboard and set up a Like stream.

2. Add and manage multiple accounts

Do you have more than one account on Instagram, perhaps one for your business and one for yourself? Are you sick of constantly logging in and out to post, engage, and browse content on different accounts?
Luckily there are not one but two solutions to this oh-so-common problem.

How to do it on Instagram:

1. Tap on the person icon at the bottom of the screen to visit your profile
2. Tap the gear icon on iOS or the three dots on Android to go to Options
3. Scroll to the bottom and select Add Account
4. Enter the username and password for the second account you’d like to manage
5. Once you’ve added a second (or third or fourth) account, the profile icon in the navigation bar will change from the silhouette of a person to your profile image
6. To switch between accounts, simply long press your profile image in the navigation bar until a menu of your accounts appears
7. Select your desired account, then snap, scroll, and like away

3. Pin your post to Pinterest

Like Instagram, Pinterest is an incredibly visual—and very powerful—social platform, so repurposing your posts for the network makes sense.
Unfortunately, Pinterest isn’t listed as one of the network choices when sharing a post from Instagram. And trying to Pin from the post itself doesn’t work. But fear not: with these workarounds, you can Pin your posts from within the Instagram app or on desktop.

How to do it on mobile:

1. Go to the post you’d like to Pin
2. Tap the three dots icon located above your post to the right
3. Select Copy Share URL to copy the post link to your clipboard
4. Open the Pinterest app on your mobile device
5. Tap on the person icon to visit your profile
6. Tap the plus sign icon at the top right of the screen to add a new Pin
7. An Add a board or Pin menu will appear, select Copied link
8. Pinterest will automatically open the link saved to your clipboard
9. Choose the image you’d like to Pin and finish posting as usual

How to do it on desktop:

1. Visit Instagram.com and find the post you’d like to Pin
2. Right click on the post and select Open Link in New Window
3. Use the Pinterest browser button to choose the image you’d like to Pin and finish posting as usual

4. Save posts where only you can see them

Have you ever been scrolling through your feed and spotted something that you really, really wanted to save for later? Now you can.
Instagram has a little-known feature that lets you save posts to an area of your profile only you can see. It’s the perfect place to squirrel away inspiration or even save competitor posts you’d like to revisit.

How to do it:

1. Go to a post you’d like to save
2. Tap the bookmark icon underneath the post on the right-hand side of the screen
3. To see your saved posts, visit your profile and tap the matching bookmark icon (next to the Photos of You icon) to go the Saved tab

5. Hide photos you’ve been tagged in

Has your brand ever been tagged in an image that you’d rather not be associated with? There’s a way to remove it from the Photos of You section of your profile.

How to do it:

1. Tap the person icon to visit your profile
2. Tap the person in a box icon beneath your bio to go to the Photos of You tab
3. Tap the three dots icon in the upper right-hand corner to reveal options
4. Tap Hide Photos
5. Select the photos you’d like removed from your profile then tap Hide Photos

Pro Tip: You can also choose whether or not you’d like tagged photos to appear on your profile. To do it, go to the Photos of You page, tap the three dots icon, select Tagging Options, then choose either Add Automatically or Add Manually.

Telegram on the other hand faces a lot of criticism for not being fully encrypted by default. But they were the first mass-market messaging app to offer any encryption, and as such were often referred to as the “encrypted chat app” in the media.

Though WhatsApp has superior encryption, Telegram has the option to set a secondary password, which is effectively two-factor authentication. A hacker will need not only access to your phone number but also a password to get to your contacts.

Giving users no option other than signing up with a number is not a good practice. Phone numbers can easily be linked to an identity through location, and many countries require you to show ID when buying SIM cards.

How to Make the Sign up Process Better

Both Telegram and WhatsApp should allow you to sign up for their services through other identifiers, such as usernames or email addresses. WhatsApp needs a secondary password solution, and both WhatsApp and Telegram should probably make it mandatory.

Which Has the Best Download Options?

Telegram’s apps are all open-source, which means you can build them yourself, rather than downloading them from the app stores. You can modify the apps, and researchers can look through them to find errors in the implementation of security features. You can also build a Telegram integration for your own application, which makes it more accessible to people who do not have access to official app stores (for example if their country blocks them), but it also means a susceptibility to backdoored or malicious versions.

Open-source is pretty awesome, and Telegram impresses further with its wide range of supported platforms. There are the usuals such as iOS, Android, and Windows Phone, but there is also browser apps for Firefox and Chrome OS, a Pidgin plugin, desktop apps, and even a Command Line Interface! Sadly, though, the Windows and Linux apps are just wrapped versions of the browser app (Webogram), which does not support end-to-end encryption.

Which Is the Least Intrusive?

WhatsApp requires access to your entire address book to even function, Without this access, WhatsApp is practically useless.
On Telegram, you can start chatting without giving the app access to your contacts. You also don’t have to hand out your telephone number to anyone you want to chat with. Instead, you can set a username and hand that out instead. That’s a pretty great, and privacy-friendly, feature.

Other Privacy & Security Issues

Both Telegram and WhatsApp allow you to control the “last seen” stamp, and both allow a compiled list of blocked users.

The fact that you can easily log into Telegram from multiple devices can become a security threat, though the platform mitigates this well by making your “active sessions” visible in the settings, where you can also easily disable anything that is not you.

Telegram will also automatically delete your account, along with all the information contained within, after six months of non-use (you can set this to one month, or a year), so if someone else were to get your phone number after you abandon it, they wouldn’t get access to your account.
In Telegram you can additionally control who is allowed to add you to groups, making it harder for spammers to annoy you.

Telegram’s ‘secret chats’ come with a few more perks than just encryption; You get notified when the other party takes a screenshot, and you can set a self-destruct time from anywhere between one second to one week. After the destruction, the app deletes all the messages on both devices (starting from when the other party read the message), putting you more in control of what your phone stores, and what information could become vulnerable if your phone is stolen or lost.

Whatsapp chat are usually encrypted while Telegram are not.

Whatsapp requires an android version of 2.3.3 and above to be able to install while Telegram requires an android version of 4.0 and above.

Telegram permits video conferencing while Whatsapp does not

Secret chats in Telegram connot be backed up, while WhatsApp chats can be. On iOS, you get the option to backup your chats in iCloud, while on Android you can save them to your Google Drive. On other platforms, you might have the choice to download them as a file. When you or one of your contacts enables this, your chats are only as secure as this backup. Be careful!
